ConSpare’s very own Alan Bryan wins award from The Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) – in honour of his lifetime of service to the bulk materials handling industry.

The MHEA returned to Chesford Grange Hotel & Conference Centre for its annual BulkEx Show and Excellence Awards. Amongst the winners of the night was Alan Bryan, Service Manager for ConSpare’s Bulk Materials Handling Division, receiving the Special Recognition Award for all of his years of service in the industry.

Alan’s journey in this sector began the moment he left school, working in underground coal mining. Over the next 25 years, Alan’s dedication and hard work helped him rise through the ranks to become Assistant Engineer, leading maintenance operations in one of the most demanding industrial environments. That alone would be a career to be proud of, but Alan didn’t stop there.

When the pits closed, many walked away from industry, but Alan didn’t. Instead, he transitioned to the supply chain side, joining companies that support our industry, maximising conveyor production and safety. He spent the next 8 years helping heavy industry, such as power stations, ports, steelworks, and quarries, keep moving. He then spent a further 5 years at a belt scraper manufacturer, where he would put his installation and engineering skills to good use whilst leading the service division.

Here at ConSpare, where he’s now been for almost a decade, Alan was recently promoted from Senior Service Engineer to Service Manager. Throughout it all, Alan has stayed ‘on the tools’ showing up on site, solving problems hands-on and bringing an unmatched level of skill, integrity, and competence to everything he does.

Danny Smith, General Manager of the Bulk Materials Handling Division, said:

“After working with countless engineers and distributors across the globe throughout my career, I can honestly say that Alan is one of the very best I’ve ever encountered – in technical ability, attitude, and sheer dedication to the job

Alan’s work ethic, experience and dedication to our industry are a testament to the high standards we deliver as a team. We thank him for leading the way as our Bulk Materials Handling – Service Manager.”

Alan is now approaching his 60th birthday and looking to gradually reduce his workload, but he continues to give 100% every day. Even more impressively, he’s already thinking about the future of our industry. Two years ago, he introduced his son, previously a mechanic, to the materials handling sector. With great advice and support. Kian Bryan (pictured above, 2nd from left) is now thriving at ConSpare Ltd; Alan’s son is proof of his influence and a testament to the legacy he is helping to build.

A huge congratulations to Alan from the whole ConSpare team. Your lifelong contribution is seen, valued, and deeply appreciated.
