WALTER INSTALL RECOGNISED AT THIS YEARS’ EVENT
The UK’s leading concrete batching plant equipment and spare parts supplier, ConSpare, were named as a finalist at the prestigious Mineral Products Association (MPA) Health and Safety Awards 2024. The recognition centered around the health & safety and wellbeing improvements achieved through the installation of a Walter Washout RD3maX at Maxi Readymix Concrete.
The MPA Health & Safety Awards 2024 celebrate and share the health and safety innovations and achievements from across MPA members and the wider industry. Having taken place virtually for the first time, the ceremony featured a series of specially commissioned videos showcasing the best in good practice from the finalists.
142 entries from 33 companies were received for this years’ event, and the ConSpare entry was a finalist in the topic of “Safer maintenance and housekeeping”. Walter automated concrete mixer cleaning innovation, RD3maX, recognised in the Safer maintenance and housekeeping category
Walter are pioneers in the field of concrete mixer cleaning and we’ve been supplying systems in UK since 2000, but the development of the RD3maX allowed for the system to be installed on a mixer of this type for the first time.
The installation of the system resulted in a considerable difference to the health and safety of the team. The site staff no longer need to enter the mixer for cleaning, which was previously a daily occurrence. It has also eliminated one-to-two hours of maintenance with vibratory hand tools, and a monthly deep clean. This not only significantly reduces risk, but critically, improves the welfare of site staff, with ailments associated with entering and cleaning the mixer reduced markedly and mental wellbeing improved.
James Bullock, CEO of ConSpare, said: “Over the last year, a focus of our business has been to raise awareness of the wellbeing challenges faced by the concrete industry, and the solutions available that can help to improve both the lives of site staff and performance of batching plants.
“It’s great to see the hard work of our teams rewarded at the MPA Awards, particularly having placed in two categories (our sister company ProSpare won the award for “Safer Handling of Inbound and Outbound Materials”). As UK master reseller, this achievement is a testament to Walter’s high-quality manufacturing.
